MY NEW TOY

Two weeks ago I was convinced to buy a slim type PSP2000. Before this acquisition, I was already pondering if I will upgrade or not, my current slim PS2 game console to the newly released PS3 game console. Most of the games I am playing, like the NBA Live, will have its next release version already under the PS3 format. But seeing the price of PS3 at around 45000 yen bothered me a lot. I am not convinced that I have to pay this much just to play my favorite Playstation Titles and enjoy some of the new features of PS3 such as the Blue Ray Disc, wireless online games and big hard disk. I do like those new stuff for a game console, but I am not a hardcore gamer and those are not my primary concern. All I want is a console where I can play my favorite games without paying that much. Here is where the PSP comes in. I learned that I just need a pretty big SD card (probably about 4 or 8 gig), and I am ready to play a variety of games. No need to buy an individual disc for every game because there are a lot of games that can be downloaded for free in the internet. Aside from the portability of this game console, I can also enjoy other features such as listening to mp3's, watching saved videos, browsing the internet and playing multiplayer games wirelessly thru adhoc network. All these for just 20000 yen, fair enough I would say. One thing though I was disappointed about is that I cannot output the display of my PSP to a regular TV set. Initially I thougt it was possible because it was shown in the TV commercials. But eventually I learned that unless my TV is capable of progressive scanning, like most of the HDTV nowadays, I cannot output the game on TV. Only saved videos can be watched on TV with some alterations in its quality depending on the compression of the video. Nevertheless, I still feel that my 20000 yen is worth it.
